Thank you to those who have already checked out (the very early stages) of OakNMetal! I appreciate it more than I can say. I wanted to add one more post to talk about the very common thing everyone mentions during new years: resolutions. I know, it’s a love it or hate it kind of thing.
I love them. I love them because I am someone that loves to create “to do” lists, because I am a firm believer and practitioner of hope. I love them because they keep me motivated, and because they are a good reference point down the line when I have (or haven’t) accomplished my goals.
But remember when I said in my previous post that I am a procrastinator? Yeah, I am every bit the same procrastinator with my resolutions as I am with going to bed at a decent hour every night. The thing with procrastinating resolutions/goals, is the more you put them off, the further they get from you. Before you know it, its daylight savings time, and you’re setting your clocks back again. You’ve gone and bypassed the first daylights saving’s time! And if you’re like me, you probably haven’t accomplished many of your resolutions. Why? Because we weren’t paying attention, because we thought we had more time, because we…procrastinated.
I’m not doing that anymore. I’m not going to outright lie and say I am no longer going to put things off. That would be setting myself up for disappointment. But I am going to start holding myself accountable. Time is the most valuable thing I have. I haven’t been doing myself any favors by not utilizing every day to accomplish my goals.
So what are my resolutions? I’m glad you asked.
For starters, LESS PROCRASTINATING. And hey, I’m already off to a good start with this blog, with this second post. But less procrastinating doesn’t mean that I will not take 15-20 minutes a day for just myself to do absolutely nothing. In the past, that would mean aimlessly scrolling on different apps, or browsing what’s on tv. Which would have been fine if that were structured “me time”. It wasn’t. It was me not doing something else that I could or should have been doing. So all that unstructured time, became a waste of time. Now, the goal is to plan ahead exactly what I will do for those 15-20 minutes a day so that when I am done, I actually feel rejuvenated and ready to conquer the rest of my daily duties.
I will put out quality weekly posts for all of my readers to enjoy and relate to. I will post honest and motivating content on my social media apps. I will read more. God, I miss reading. I will pick up some good TV shows to binge (I’m open to suggestions). I will see more films in the theater. I will explore more places on this beautiful earth. I will expand my palette and try new cuisines. I will volunteer more. And last but certainly not least, I WILL make my health a top priority. These goals will be documented for all of you to join me. And when the time comes, motivate me.
This blog is not just a way for me to pursue all of my passions. It is also a way for me to connect with others. As mentioned before, it is a way for me to start holding myself accountable. And honestly guys, it’s both terrifying and exhilarating. I am starting this new chapter with the world.
So there they are, those are my resolutions. I may add more as time goes on. In fact, I know I will. Once one goal, or goals are accomplished, it will be time to create new ones. In future posts I will divulge what my intentions and aspirations are with each resolution. Look out for some new content in the upcoming days, particularly under the different categories to understand more.
I want to end saying this. LET’S PUT AN END TO PROCRASTINATING! Starting tomorrow, that is. I mean, tomorrow is January 1st. Who cares if it falls on a Tuesday. Though, if you’re a bit OCD like I am, you will care. It is a new a year! And I DO believe in making resolutions and creating better versions of ourselves. We can do it! If you like, comment below what some of your resolutions are, and I will support you along the way!
Have a safe and awesome New Years! Make those resolutions. Chase your goals and dreams.
Make it happen.
I agree with the reading more. I miss reading too. And I feel that blogging for me will help keep me accountable for my fitness goals that I plan to write about. Love you!
